Campania is the top exporter in Southern Italy, 10.3 billion euros in the first six months of 2023.
Agricultural products, pharmaceuticals and transport are the three priority sectors for the region. On a trend basis, the export value of Campania products increased by 25.7%, above the Italian average, confirming a trend that has lasted for some time. Switzerland, the United States and Germany are the main target markets.
Turkey and Poland also present good growth opportunities. These are the data presented by the SACE Group at the Neapolitan stage of the “La Casa delle Imprese” Agri-Food, Medicine and Transport roadshow. Thanks to these three sectors, Campania will get on the podium with a total of 17 billion euros of exports in 2022 (57% of which will come from the first three sectors).
In the first six months of 2023 the Campania export growth continued with a trend of 25.7%, well above the Italian average. This trend is confirmed every year. In the last five years the average annual growth rate of the value of exports of goods has been 10.8% (7.4% at national level).
This is what emerges from the report “Small and medium businesses, more competitive: Italian SMEs on the road to sustainability Testing exports between digital transformation and digital transformation. It focuses on the challenges of the international market, especially regional exports.
From this analysis was born the “La Casa delle Imprese” roadshow organized by the SACE Group, which crossed Italy from north to south, stopping in Naples on 6 December.
Campania exports are strong in Switzerland, the United States and Germany.
Campania exports recovered in the post-pandemic period and recorded strong growth in the two-year period 2021-2022, also driven by the increase in the price, representing 2.7% of total Italian exports. The total amount exceeded 17 billion euros. The main countries sought by Campania are Switzerland, the United States and Germany, which together represent around a third of its total exports.
Turkey and Poland are also growing (+67% and +46% respectively), but we are also looking at less covered but very dynamic markets, especially India (+48%) and Saudi Arabia (+45%).
The data collected by the SACE Group highlights that there are important growth opportunities for the Campania economy, thanks also to the investments of local companies in innovation and sustainability, which act as catalysts for exports. SACE (based in Naples and which covers the territory with four agencies between Naples, Salerno and Avellino) has already invested 1.7 billion euros last year to support 2,500 Campania businesses, with the aim of supporting Campania businesses in this direction, providing insurance and financial solutions for green investments, liquidity, internationalization and projects of strategic importance, as well as export activities (in Italy and abroad).
The SACE Roadshow Event in Naples involved several leading companies such as Sada, Cilento, Kocca and Air Prom.
As part of the SACE Roadshow, it is part of the INSIEME 2025 industrial plan and is being disseminated.
